What is Role-Based Access Control and Global Link Sharing?
cortx allows you to control how content is shared and accessed within and outside your workspace. You can assign user roles (like Viewer or Contributor) and generate shareable links with customizable permissions and expiration dates.
How It Helps
- Protects sensitive data by ensuring only authorized users can view or edit content.
- Simplifies collaboration with shareable links that respect role-based permissions.
- Maintains control at scale by managing access across teams, projects, and workflows.
How to Manage Access and Share Content
In any conversation, spec, or resource, click the Shae icon.
- Choose how to share:
- People in the Workspace – accessible to all members.
- Specific People – restrict access to selected users.
- External People – generate a global link with permissions.

- Set access roles:
- Viewer – read-only access.
- Contributor – can comment or edit based on context.

- For external links, optionally set an expiration date for time-limited access.
- Use @mentions to bring individuals directly into conversations or reviews.
Tip: Use specific sharing settings to protect sensitive information while enabling effective collaboration across stakeholders.
