Conversations in cortx are intelligent, searchable chat threads where users and AI agents collaborate, execute tasks, and maintain shared context.
How It Helps
- Captures meetings and discussions with high accuracy.
- Generates structured summaries to highlight action items.
- Improves collaboration by making information easily accessible.
Starting Conversations
- Navigate to the Conversations tab
- Click + New Chat
- Start the chat by selecting the appropriate agent

Summarizing Conversations & Generating Threads
Any conversation in cortx can be summarized, the user can use the Summarize button for Entire Conversations or Uploaded documents to generate:
- Key points
- Action Items
- Thread highlights
The Summarize button can be accessed via:
- Book icon in the chat input tray

- Select Summarize from the Three-dot menu in the top-right corner of any conversation.

Threads can also be created while summarization. Threads let you isolate specific topics within a larger conversation. Ideal for sub-topics, feature-level breakdowns, or stakeholder clarifications.
Linking Conversations & Resources
- In the chat list view, users can select multiple conversations and link them, to form a unified context.
- Add or drag resources into a conversation or by using the + icon.
- You can also link external documents to maintain traceability.
Adding Participants & Sharing Conversations
- Use the Share icon to invite teammates to an ongoing conversation

- Assign Viewer or Contributor roles.

- Generate external share links if needed (with optional expiry)
Archiving Conversations
- To declutter your view, you can archive inactive or completed conversations.
- Archived chats remain searchable and can be restored when needed.

Tip: Use prompt suggestions or templates to get started quickly with structured discussions.
